Tree Rules are as follows: Approved at 10-04-2014 meeting. (These rules are not actually part of the bylaws because they were approved before the bylaws were ready for a vote but they are official rules of Moran Cemetery)

Develop policy to decide which trees are to be cut or better yet, saved.

Definitions:

Family Trees: Trees planted by the family as opposed to those that were part of the original cemetery plots.

Cemetery trees: Large trees which are part of the original cemetery plots, not planted by family members.

  1. Family or cemetery trees: Is the tree diseased, dead or near dead.> place on agenda for vote to cut.

  2. Cemetery trees: Is the tree causing damage to a grave, headstone, monument, etc.. If yes, can it be corrected? I.e., if the tree is not in close proximity to a grave, marker, headstone, etc., but a root is causing damage, can the root be removed and the tree saved. If saving is not feasible> place on agenda for vote to cut.

  3. Did a family plant the tree or shrub? If yes, and they want it removed, then it should be their decision

  4. They can remove it or correct problems if they wish at their expense.
